Personal Logo
My logo began as a class project. During the brainstorming phase, we were tasked with doodling 75 variations of symbols that represented us.
On the right shows my initial sketches, with the larger ones being the most liked by my peers. From there, I selected a few of the 75 sketches to digitize and refine in Adobe Illustrator.
Through multiple iterations, I arrived at this final symbol. As you can see to the right, the logo is actually an abstract representation of “NAOMI.” I was particularly drawn to this shape because it was not just my name in a fun typeface. It had a unique visual identity. As a personal quirk, I love drawing blobby characters, which influenced the final design.

By the end of the semester, this was the variation of the logo I used for all my portfolio work. In addition to the logo, we were also tasked with designing our own letterheads and business cards, which you can see below.

Since creating my logo two years ago, I have made minor tweaks to my wordmark while keeping the core symbol intact. I have also chosen to go by “Naomi Rae” instead of “Naomi Gaylor” in my logo since it is my pen name. I have also decided to treat color as a more flexible element, adapting it to complement different contexts where my logo appears.
